Q. How do I install/transfer PhoneControl from one computer to another?

A. Transferring PhoneControl from one computer to another involves copying certain configuration files from the old computer, uninstalling the program from the old computer and then installing and configuring the system on the new computer.  Because the process is complicated and can result in the system not working correctly, PhoneControl recommends that the work be carried out by experienced personnel.  Please contact PhoneControl to arrange for the work to be done on site by one of our technicians.  Alternately, please refer to the attached documentation for further instructions.

Q. How do I install/uninstall Data Collection or Task Scheduler as a Service? A. These Services will automatically be setup at installation, but for the Services to take effect you must restart the computer. This applies to Windows NT4,2000 or XP only. To manually do this follow these instructions:

1.     Log on as “Administrator”.

2.     From the Start menu select Run.

3.     Type in the FULL file path of where datacollection.exe is located followed by datacollection.exe /install For example, if datacollection.exe is located inC:\Program Files\PhoneControlV5 Then in Open you would type the following command: "C:\Program Files\PhoneControlV5\DataCollection.exe" /install NOTE: the file path must be in double quotes.

4.     Click OK. If the install is correct you will see the following message “Service installed successfully”.

5.     To uninstall, follow the above procedure but in the command line type uninstall instead of install.

6.     Restart the computer to Start the Services. To install Task Scheduler as a Service follow the above but the executable file will be nttask.exe so that the command line would read:

"C:\Program Files\PhoneControlV5\Nttask.exe" /install
