Q. When I run Data Collection Monitor I see a red flashing cross in the System Tray. What does this mean?

A. This “flashing” cross (X) is alerting you of a possible data collection error. If you maximise the Data Collection Monitor program you will see in the bottom left hand corner of the screen the “Last Error” detected. Further details of the error is available by right-clicking on the Site Name in the Connected pane and selecting Properties. This will display the error detected and provide suggestions on how to resolve it.

If you get a “Remote Passthrough Connection” error, this is alerting you that someone is monitoring the data collection by running Data Collection Monitor (it could be yourself because you have started to use the Data Collection Monitor or possibly another user is monitoring data collection). This could also occur when running Real Time Monitor. In reality, it is not a communication error but an “alert”. If you would like to disable this particular warning simply uncheck the Remote Passthrough Connection check box in the Data Collection Monitor screen, click on Clear Error and restart Data Collection Monitor.

Q. How can I check if call data is being collected correctly?

A. In Version 5, the new Data Collection program runs in the background and is hidden from view. Depending on what Windows platform is installed it may also run as a Service (Windows NT/2000). To monitor Data Collection you may launch Data Collection Monitor. By right-clicking on the Site Name and selecting Properties, you can see when the last call was collected in Last Data Received. Also, you can right-click on the Site Name in the Connected pane, select Remote Connection then click Connect. The Realtime Data Monitor screen will display live call details. If you see call details then this confirms you are collecting call data. Once finished click the Disconnect button then Close.

Alternatively, you may wish to run a report to see if calls are being collected.
